| A list of free general directories. These sites accept general submissions from English language sites. This category is reserved for general web directories that offer some sort of "no cost" listings. This type of listing would not require anything in return, such as a reciprocal link. A free directory list. Sites that only offer free "no follow" listings would not be appropriate for this list (should be submitted in the paid category).
This is a 100% free directories list. Sites should be listed with with absolutely no strings attached. The websites listed here offer no-cost submissions. Sites in this category may also offer a choice of upgrading to a reciprocal or paid submission, in addition to their free listings.
| | Please note that the highest PageRank directory sites are not always the best. Use your judgement as in some cases PR is not everything. If a free directory has been around for a year or more, has high PR but has relatively few listings then chances are that they are not listing many, or any free submissions. These sites may also offer reciprocal or paid submissions. Some directories call themselves free to get you to the site but their intention is to sell you paid listings.
These days, an average directory can receive somewhere between five and twenty thousand free submissions per year. Some of these sites are either overwhelmed with submissions or the site really only intends to publish paid listings. New directory sites are often more eager to list you site. The reward comes years in the future as the directory grows and gains value. Your website may be listed near the top.

Sorting the directory list.
The listings are sorted by PageRank (PR) but you can choose to sort Alphabetically, by the number of Hits or by Date Added. To receive a list of the new directories or the latest free directories then sort by Date Added.
