Ping
A ping is a mechanism by which a blog notifies a server that its content has changed. A signal is sent to one or more “ping servers,” which can then create a list of new material. Open ping servers, let other web services subscribe to a list of blogs that have recently pinged them. Aggregators use results from ping servers to tell subscribers which items on their subscription lists have fresh material.
Wordpress Update Services
Many blog authoring tools, like Wordpress, can be set to automatically ping one or more servers each time a post is created or updated. For your Wordpress blog admin, Go to “Options / Settings”, then “Writing”and scroll to the bottom of the page to find a box called “Update Services.”. You can add additional Ping services to the list.
