1. Yes, we are becoming a victim of our own success. The bigger our list gets (9200 listings and increasing fast) the more time it takes to keep current. We try to use automated methods whenever possible, like keeping track of things like dead links.
2. Our biggest problem is identifying the sites that have switched from Free to Paid /Reciprocal. We could sure use your help here. If you notice a Free site that requires something in return for a listing please use our “report link” feature. It only takes a second and you don’t even have to leave your name or email. Remember, a free listing asks nothing in return (like a reciprocal link).
3. We also find sites that change their formal completely. Please let us know if the site doesn’t have a directory on the page we’ve linked to. I have been really busy over the last 3 days. First, I did a major cleanup on the existing listings. I removed a bunch of dead or inappropriate ones. It is funny how sites can completely change over short period of time. I then moved about 100 sites from free to paid/reciprocal. I didn’t make it through the lower PR sites this time around. As always, I really appreciate a quick note if you notice something has changed.

• I was away for a week so I had a whole bunch of new submissions. We now take submissions through comments on our blog. In case you haven’t seen you add directories to the list here.

• I then went through some of our reports from our submission service. I added a bunch of directories that added our free submissions. I recommend these sites as there are too many free directories that are not actively adding new free submissions. See our list of free directories and look for comments such as “added our free submission”. I will continue to add more in the coming weeks. Thanks to our directory submission crew for their hard work.

• I then searched out more free directories from the net. I am concentrating on higher PR directories and found some good ones.

Last week it appears that Google manually adjusted PageRank on some sites. Some directories went up from zero and some directories went down to zero. Overall it looks a another neutral update. We are still looking for a real automated update.

Here are the latest stats from our database.

Of Note:
- The total number of directories has shrunk as a result of our efforts to remove dead and inappropriate sites from the list.
- The number or N/A increases naturally as new directories are added to the list that have not been assigned PR. It has been a while since the last real PR update.
- This little update was not just related to directories as I had a number of non-directory sites increase in PR.
