Submitting deep links to free general directories

Although they have offered deep link submission for years Best-Web-Directories.com has just created a new custom process for deep link submissions. The new form allow clients to enter 1 or 2 internal pages. They also have the option of entering homepage submissions. It is always good to mix both homepage and deep link submissions to keep your links natural looking.

If you want to submit to the directories yourself, the site has a new list of over one hundred general directories that offer free deep links listings.

Two reasons I don’t recommend starting an article directory

Here are the two reasons I don’t recommend starting an article directory.

1. There are way too many already. I have 850 article directories listed on this site. Some of the niche article directories look useful but the there are way too many general ones to make a new article directory profitable.

2. The rate of abandonment is very high. While doing research for our list of article directories, I went through a bunch of article directory lists. Although many of these were less than a year old, I found an incredible rate of parked sites, dead sites or sites that were no longer directories. I am talking about hundreds and hundreds of dead directories. I also have to remove a large portion of my own listings every couple of weeks.

I don’t consider myself an expert in article directories as I have never owned one. Current owners would know better. My analysis is that there are too many and that the business model is not profitable. My advice for anyone wanting to start a new one is to try something else.

New Real Estate Directory Submission Service

We have just implemented a new Real Estate Directory Submission Service on our sister site best-web-directories.com. It is based on our list of real estate directories which now has close to 250 listings.

The free real estate directories are definitely in the minority, although we have managed to find about 45 free ones. The actual number of directories that we can submit to will vary depending on your type of site and your region. Many of the sites are American. We will round out the service by submitting to general directories.

An updated list of 200+ Real Estate Directories

We have just done some work on our real estate directory list. We have added 100 new real estate directories and added some new regional categories for North America (Canada & USA) and Europe.

We are investigating the possibility of offering a niche real estate directory submission service on our sister site best-web-directories.com. If anyone is interested in such a service please leave a comment here and we will let you know if/when the service is implemented. If you have any free real estate directories that are not on the list please leave us a comment and we will add them right away.

A new list of 110 free general directories that accept deep links

At the request of a user on DP forum, we just created a brand new list of free general directories that accept deep links. With few exceptions, these same directories also accept sub-domains.

The list is fresh and should be useful. A big thanks goes out to our directory submissions crew, as I used their master list to select the directories that accept deep links. Since we regularly remove directories that do not approve our submissions the approval rate from these guys should be pretty good. The SEO quality of the directories will also be good.

Google’s Advice for Choosing a SEO Company

Google actually offers some pretty good advice for choosing a SEO company. Some of the advice is self-serving but much of it would be useful to anyone that is new to Search Engine Optimization.

The Latest Directory PR Stats - Directories are holding their own

Here are the latest stats of our PR, based on the 10,000+ directories in our database. Without getting into any real math it appears that PR is up across the board, except for the NA category.

Directories in Web-Directories.ws Database

PageRank Stats

The following table is a comparison before and after the latest PR update.

The size of our directory sample has grown by 14% so anything above that would be considered an increase. There seems to be a particular significant increase in PR5 and PR7 directories. PR2, PR3, PR4 and PR6s stayed about the same. The percentage amount of PR0s decreased and the number of N/A directories decreased substantially.

Factors that may affect these numbers:

  • Many of the directories are experiencing their first real PR update, in which they have been around long enough to rise from N/A or PR0. In this respect it should be expected that the numbers increase.
  • Most of our submissions come from brand new directories, meaning that we are constantly adding new PR0 and N/A to our database.
  • The directory data contains a couple of categories that are not directories (social media & press releases). The PR8s and PR9s often fall into these categories so these numbers are not anything to get excited about.
