I have noticed that quite a few of my sites have had their PR updated over the last week or two.  The sites affected are both directory and non-directory sites.  I have taken steps to remove ads on these sites. These are sites that likely had a manual penalty for selling links in the past.  I’m not sure if the PR reduction expires after a certain amount of time or not.

I ran an updated PageRank on some of web-directories’ directories and noticed that a small percentage of sites had PR changes since the last PR update.  Most of them went up but some went down.

I don’t think anything new happened at Google.  Just the ongoing process of manually playing with PageRank and/or rankings.

It took a while but I finally finished updating PR on web-directories.ws.  I also cleaned up all the dead links. That task alone is starting to be very time consuming as the numbers of directories listed gets higher and higher.

Here are the stats from the Google PageRank update from the end of July 2008. The stats are based on our on the 11,000+ directories in our database (as of Aug 6th).

Overall, the PageRank stats have changed very little across the board. I appreciate your comments.
